Playing and singing on a piano and knowing every pitch or key is the dream of every aspiring musician. You might be one of them and might have even heard people saying you that you are a “born musician.” Well, if you have the passion for singing and playing, then you can do so without spending lot of money and years in musical training.

Following information will certainly help you to gain the required perfect pitch in an effective and fast way.

To make sense of the perfect pitch, the first thing to understand is that there are two types of pitch namely “relative” pitch and “absolute” pitch. Understanding the pitches is very important.

When you hear a note playing on the piano or any other musical instrument and can identify it with its name, then that pitch is called as an absolute pitch. Whereas, a pitch that is in relation with another pitch is called relative pitch. For example, on hearing two musical notes, you can tell how different they are from the other. The difference is named as the interval.

When you have learnt both of these pitches, you have learned the perfect pitch.

The most important thing in learning the perfect pitch is to listen yourself. Well, you cannot actually listen your own singing and judge, but you can do this by singing in front of a friend, who is listening.

Sing along when playing a song and prepare a sign language with your friend to signal you whether you must increase or decrease your pitch. It can be something like thumbs up to increase pitch and thumbs down to decrease pitch and an opened thumb and index finger as OK for the right key.

Practice more, as with more singing and your good friend pointing you out on adjusting your voice, you will realize the difference on singing on a key.

While this training for the perfect pitch may take a while to master it, but it does work and you will be able to sing almost any song and judge the difference in their pitches.
